Application Scientist in Electrochemical Systems

Department of Materials, Rex Richards Building, Oxford

The Application Scientist's role is focused on the development and delivery of short/sprint/pathfinder projects in the Electrochemical Systems area. There is a strong focus on collaboration between other Royce partner institutes, and in many cases the application scientist will be the lead contact with the industry partner. The Application Scientist will carry out experimental research and provide technical expertise as well advice on the nature, scale and cost of the project. The contract is fixed-term for 2 years.

A successful candidate will have a doctorate or other postgraduate degree in physical sciences and/or significant research experience within an industrial research environment relevant to materials development and characterisation. Experience in planning, undertaking and reporting on technical projects within a research laboratory environment is essential.

The Application Scientist is part of an interconnected and diverse team, who engage with industry and the national Research and Technology Organisation (RTO) network, to identify, scope, and most importantly, help deliver technical solutions in the area of materials science which cannot be supported by the existing national infrastructure.
