The Central Michigan University College of Medicine (CMED) is seeking to hire a full-time (12-month) Instructor/Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Anatomy to join our Foundational Sciences Department faculty to teach Anatomy as part of our integrated curriculum design. The position is open track (either non-tenure or tenure-track) and rank; Instructor, Assistant, Associate, and Professor rank will be considered depending on credentials.

The successful candidate will work closely with two anatomy faculty members to coordinate lab content as part of a cross-disciplinary and inquiry-based medical school curriculum that includes case-based and team-based learning. Duties include working collaboratively to prepare cadaveric prosections and student lab activities, instructing students in weekly lab sessions and participating in multidisciplinary facilitation of group sessions and/or lectures. Scholarly activities will be appropriate to the track. For non- tenure track, this is primarily a teaching position with expectations for some scholarly activity and committee service. A tenure-track successful candidate is expected to have a promising research program that would support seeking external funding opportunities, in addition to teaching and service. Required Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in related area (Instructor Rank) or Doctoral degree (PhD, MD/DO for all other ranks)
  • Human cadaver dissection experience
  • Experience teaching cadaver-based human gross anatomy at the university level
  • Experience in and strong commitment to, innovative approaches to education and learning
  • Ability or commitment to facilitate interactive learning in large and small group settings
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills
  • All areas of scholarly activity will be considered, but preference will be given for scholarly activity and experience related to medical education research
  • Candidates interested in advanced rank must have significant relevant medical school teaching experience of high quality in both large and small group settings as well as evidence of scholarship.

    The Central Michigan University College of Medicine welcomed its inaugural class in the summer of 2013. CMED's mission is to educate diverse students and trains culturally competent physicians to provide comprehensive care and services to underserved populations in Michigan and beyond. Students admitted into the medical school learn from a curriculum designed to prepare them to practice in these areas when they complete their residency training. This curriculum uses advanced technology, including state-of-the-art simulation and clinical skills labs.
