  • About You

    The Analyst Programmer provides a range of analytical and technical services supporting, maintaining and enhancing the applications supported by the team. These applications include bespoke and off-the-shelf applications deployed to on-premises data centres and cloud hosted, as well as SAAS platforms.

    The role is responsible for the efficient and effective provision of services to users and colleagues across the range of applications. This will incorporate management, monitoring and resolution of support issues, the identification of improvement initiatives and production of documentation to enable customers and Service Desk colleagues to resolve issues themselves.Key to success will be the identification of measures to achieve significant reductions in the volume of support and service requests raised.

    To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

  • 3+ years of experience in software development and solution delivery Experience delivering within the Software Development Lifecycle through analysis, design, development, testing, release and deployment, documentation and application support.
  • Experience in developing applications and providing support services to high quality integrated business systems. The position requires a high level of expertise in one or more of the following areas: -
  • Enterprise Web application development frameworks and technology suites (eg JavaEE /.NET) including Web mark-up (eg HTML / XML) and scripting languages (eg Javascript / VBscript).
  • ESS and BW, PHP, MySQL, Unix script, Cold Fusion and other niche languages
  • Learning Management System (eg Blackboard) and e-learning technologies
  • Relational databases (Oracle, MSSQL)
  • Integration and ETL products (MuleSoft)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively to manage the end-to-end resolution process for assigned tasks through in-depth analysis, review and application of expert knowledge.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with strong customer focus and ability to understand issues, manage expectations, gain agreement, and resolve conflicts. Experience in enterprise application systems analysis and development including analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, documentation and support with a thorough understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Extensive expertise in the technical aspects of software package configuration coupled with a functional knowledge of the applications; and/or expertise in software development and configuration for custom- built applications.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills and an ability to think laterally to identify practical and workable solutions.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, work accurately with attention to detail, and meet deadlines.
  • Prior experience in, or advanced knowledge of, support analysis or support testing with a sound understanding of the trends within the Higher Education IT industry, including those in administration and educational technology.
  • Exposure to ITIL Foundations, principles and application.
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage complex tasks using project management best practice.
  • Substantial experience in debugging or troubleshooting complex problems while providing effective progress communications and fault escalation procedures.
  • Proven ability to successfully participate as a productive team member, and work autonomously as required.
