Job Description:

The Financial Systems Analyst reports to the Assistant Vice President for Budget, Finance and Analytics and will perform functions across all departments within Budget, Finance and Analytics (BFA). BFA is comprised of the following departments of organization:

  • Budget and Financial Planning
  • Bursar
  • Controller/Treasurer
  • Office of the Assistant VP for Budget, Finance & Analytics
  • The Financial Systems Analyst will possess strong financial modeling skills using advanced Excel techniques (pivot tables, nested IF statements, VLOOKUP, Power Pivot, etc.). The candidate will have excellent analytical skills, be able to interpret and synthesize complex and diverse information, and clearly communicate them verbally, in writing, and visually to stakeholders. Innovative problem-solving skills are critical for success in this role. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships and collaborate with Budget, Finance and Analytics colleagues to identify, define, and improve a variety of business processes to support various initiatives.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain financial models to analyze and estimate financial impact of strategic initiatives, operational changes, new program/department creation, capital projects, and other financial scenarios.
  • Primary responsible person for maintaining the university's budget management software, Axiom. Responsibilities include:
  • Basic administration of Axiom, maintaining dimension and financial data tables, and possess a basic understanding of relationship database.
  • Assisting users across campus utilizing the tool and improving the user experience.
  • Basic report writing in Axiom.
  • Create and maintain documentation for roll forward processes as well as basic user guides for Axiom.
  • Maximize information available to the AVP for Budget, Finance and Analytics by gathering data from a variety of sources to assist in monitoring key university-wide metrics.
  • Provide assistance to the following departments within BFA:
  • Assist the Bursar's office as needed on a monthly basis with student bill creation, printing, and distribution.
  • Assist the Controller/Treasurer's office on a weekly basis with accounts payable and payroll processes.
  • Assist Budget and Financial Planning over several months on an annual basis with creation of the university's annual operating budget.
  • Provide input on quality control standards as part of continuous improvement of business processes.
  • Ad hoc reports and projects as assigned by the AVP for Budget, Finance and Analytics.
  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in business, finance, information technology, or related field
  • Additional Information:

    Salary Range: $58,000 - $63,000
