The research activities will concern both experimental and numerical analyses
of friction-induced-vibrations related issues (friction noise, self-excited
contact vibrations). The main focus of the research will be the analysis of
contact dynamic instabilities (mode coupling, stick-slip), on both dry
contacts and contacts lubricated with grease. Measurement campaigns will be
developed, by both improving the experimental test benches, present at the
DIMA laboratories, and reproducing the contact instabilities on such systems.
At the same time, finite element analyses will be developed as support to the
understanding. Finite element software will be used for simulating the
nonlinear contact interactions and investigating the coupling between the
system dynamics and the contact response. Collaborations with international
and industrial partners will be expected by transferring the fundamental
research achievements to applications

Engineering: PhD or equivalent
Selective Criteria of the Call: Number of publications that can be selected
for the evaluation of merit: no more than 12 on issues related to the topic of
the research of this call;
Foreign language subject to assessment of the candidate's scientific
linguistic skills: English and French;
Preferential qualifications: Participation in research collaborations with
foreign research groups and / or industrial partners, documented by
publications produced by such collaborations; Publications in international
journals on issues related to the research topic; Previous experience proven
by research grants (or equivalent research contracts), relating to the
activities envisaged by the research line of this call;
Scientific and / or technological experience required, in relation to the line
of research on which the researcher will have to apply: proven ability to
develop experimental campaigns relating to vibrations induced by friction;
experience in numerical simulations of contact problems with finite element
codes; experience in the analysis and reproduction of dynamic instabilities
due to contact (squeal, stick-slip, groan, etc ..);
