Full Time/Part Time Full Time Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director for Alumni, the Alumni Industry Outreach Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and management of corporate and business-focused alumni relations; on-line learning programs for alumni, and career service coordination. This position will interface with alumni of all ages, corporate representatives and executives, University of Idaho Office of Career Services, University of Idaho Advancement colleagues and University of Idaho leadership team, when appropriate.

This position may be in either Moscow or Boise, Idaho. Teleworking is occasionally permitted if coordinated in advance with management.

Unit Overview

The Office of Alumni Relations is responsible for fostering and strengthening connections among University of Idaho alumni and between alumni and the university. OAR offers a diverse portfolio of programming and communications platforms to engage alumni of all ages with the institution. With offices in four key locations in Idaho, OAR plays an integral role in the U of I's Division of University Advancement and has strong partnerships with the offices of Strategic Enrollment Management, Career Services, the Colleges, Athletics, University Communications and Marketing, University Events, among others. OAR also staffs the University of Idaho Alumni Association, the University of Idaho Retirees Association, the Student Alumni Relations Board and the Homecoming Committee.

Position Responsibilities

Key Accountability Identifying, growing and galvanizing robust and sustainable alumni workplace networks by:

Job Duties

  • Coordinating with the Director of Strategic Corporate Partnerships to identify strategic corporate relationships that would benefit from corporate-alumni engagement activities;

  • Coordinating with the Director of Strategic Corporate Partnerships to identify key industries and key alumni within those industries to help serve as corporate alumni contacts;

  • Supporting and implementing a strategic plan to engage alumni located at key partner corporations;

  • Working with Director of Strategic Corporate Partnerships and the Office of Career Services to develop an integrated portfolio of programming specifically aimed at engaging alumni at corporate offices;

  • Coordinating with OAR colleagues to ensure consistency of messaging, benefits and programming among all alumni chapters, corporation-based and non-corporation based;

  • Creatively cultivating alumni partnerships through a variety of interactions and personal visits and participating in key events where corporate partners may engage;

  • Updating the client relationship management (CRM) data base as appropriate with key insight and information on alumni.

  • Key Accountability Providing leadership to foster growth of the Vandal Business Directory by:

    Job Duties

  • Working with Advancement Services to identify Vandal-owned businesses;

  • Overseeing communications and marketing efforts for the Vandal Business Directory, both to grow participation and steward those already participating;

  • Developing a strategic plan with the Assistant Alumni Director to ensure continued growth and participation in the Vandal Business Directory;

  • Transferring Vandal Business Directory data to the CRM;

  • Implementing a plan to begin a tiered fee to participating businesses.

  • Key Accountability Leading coordination for on-line alumni engagement by:

  • Connecting with colleges through communications contacts, development officers, or Deans as necessary to share online programing opportunities with alumni;

  • Connecting with continuing education office at U of I to connect alumni to learning opportunities;

  • Coordinating alumni online events (panels, career sharing, etc,) lead and emcee efforts.

  • Key Accountability Contribute to a team effort by:

    Job Duties

  • Staying current on best practices by accessing information from, and participating in, advancement professional organizations, professional development activities and peer networking as appropriate;

  • Participating in OAR staff and other meetings as assigned;

  • Providing back-up support to career related events as needed;

  • Developing social media content for career-related events and programs;

  • Providing data through utilizing the client relations management database and inputting regularly through contact reports;

  • Supporting industry events by connecting with chapter and regional alumni advisors;

  • Writing thank you notes and alumni follow up responses after engagements;

  • Supporting events as requested that engage alumni representing a variety of industries;

  • Performing other duties as assigned.

  • Position Qualifications

    Required Experience

  • Combination of professional and/or leadership volunteer experience working in sales, communications or other relationship building role in specific corporations, professional business organizations or higher education that total 3 years.

  • Using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches, and data organization.

  • Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Required Licensures, Certifications or other

  • Willingness to travel and work non-standard hours and weekends.

  • Must be able to travel between locations to meet with alumni.

  • Additional Preferred

  • Experience working independently, sharing ideas and progress, and providing weekly updates on progress;

  • Experience with on-line mentoring platforms;

  • Working knowledge of Idaho corporate landscape;

  • Experience working in higher education advancement.

  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
