Working with the Biotechnology Research Analyst and Research Assistant perform routine crop care by preparing crop field beds, install irrigation, planting, apply fertilizer and pesticides, watering, pulling weeds and applying mulch. In the greenhouse water and fertilize plants, wash pots, start seedling trays, control weeds and pests. Maintain Biotechnology facilities by mowing grass, install and repair irrigation systems, maintain tools and equipment, secure tools and equipment in locked storage areas.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge of Agriculture, farming, gardening, landscape maintenance and related areas as well as small engines use and repair, seeding, cultivating plants. Pesticide applicators certification. Valid driver's license. Operate vehicles and farm equipment, pesticide/herbicide application, basic math.
Preferred Qualifications
Abilities to: Drive vehicles, tractor and operate small power equipment, work as part of a team or independently and communicate in English (written and verbal).
Physical Demands
Physical demands: While performing duties of job, employee will be required to work outdoors in hot weather. This position requires the employee to be able to lift 65 lbs (fertilizer sack) and carry it at least 25 yards. Work environment: The noise level in the work environment will probably be moderate. The work environment is a mix of outdoors and indoors.
