DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Post Production at The New York Film Academy New York Campus seeks a talented and ambitious instructor who specializes in Adobe After Effects software. The individual in this role will be working in a diverse environment with students from all around the world.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The day-to-day duties required of this position may vary.
Deliver instruction in accordance with the learning objectives set for the course, including practical skills, methods, theories and techniques
Provide one-on-one consultations with students, if and when necessary. Consultations must be approved by Dept. Chair prior to scheduling.
Manage course syllabus materials & lesson plans, and develop as needed
Facilitate peer assessment and encourage discussion & constructive criticism in class
Assess student work, including but not limited to, assigning projects, papers and exercises
Submit attendance & grades promptly to the Registrars Office, and inform the appropriate administrative staff if students are not meeting academic standards and need academic support; if students are suspected of committing plagiarism; if incidents occur in class which cause an unsafe learning environment for students & faculty
Adhere to institution-wide policies & procedures and follow the correct protocol with respect to disciplining students
Attend & participate in faculty meetings and/or departmental curricular meetings, as requested by Department Chair
If requested, serve as advisors or on Thesis Committees and evaluate undergraduate or graduate student Thesis work
Prep and organize gear for class; can include, but is not limited to film and digital cameras, lights and various stands if appropriate to courses taught
Making safety the first priority for any activity on set
Participate in day long production workshops on the backlot as a supervising instructor (no lifting) if needed (if appropriate to courses taught)
Guide students through hands on classes
Submit Daily Grades, Midterm and Final Grades on time
Complete assigned Paycom assignments by the deadline
Punch In and Punch Out hours taught in Paycom correctly
Start scheduled classes, consultations on time
Check NYFA emails regularly
Respond to Email requests in a timely manner
Seek assistance from Dept. Chair when necessary
Report issues that arise in classes to Dept. Chair
Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:
Broad & in-depth knowledge of the subject area or discipline where they teach
Substantial professional experience in the discipline of Adobe After Effects
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Office, Google Suite environment.
Ethical/Honest confidentiality, honesty, transparence, and open communication
Excellent organizational skills
Collaborative willing to work with fellow instructors on any required departmental work, such as curricular development and planning
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:
Master (equivalent professional experience)
Program skills: Adobe After-Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop
Broad & in-depth knowledge of the subject area or discipline where they teach
Substantial professional experience in their respective department
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ethical/Honest - evidence of the practice of a high level confidentiality
Excellent organizational skills
Collaborative willing to work with fellow instructors on any required departmental work, such as curricular development and planning
In the absence of an undergraduate or graduate degree, the instructors training exceptional body of work, relevant experience, teaching experience and training in their specified field will be evaluated & documented in a formal degree-level rubric
