Overview

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) Outreach Grant is hiring two positions for community outreach members to join their team. ACP seeks to reduce digital access disparities by providing qualifying households with a discounted rate for internet access. The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC benefit program that helps ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more. The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.

This position serves Carbon and Emery Counties. This position is funded by a temporary two-year contract. The ideal candidate will take part in a variety of activities related to ACP outreach and education. Months worked will be determined by each county.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the outreach and awareness of the Affordable Connectivity Program.
  • Provide direct help with enrollment which will consist of one-on-one in- person, over the phone, or online appointments to help persons complete their ACP enrollment.
  • Answer general questions regarding the program.
  • Assist clients with general application questions.
  • Partner with local community organization to assist with ACP awareness activities by working closely with organizations that often provide services to low-income households.
  • Host or participate in outreach events.
  • Utilize door-to-door outreach twice weekly (with a partner, never alone).
  • Report out-reach performed and follow-up.
  • Assist in project management such as data collection.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications
  • Applicants are expected to have excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to navigate with a GPS and map.
  • Valid Utah driver's license to perform essential job responsibilities.
  • Self-motivated, will work up to 29 hours.
  • Applicants are expected to navigate with a GPS and map and keep records of neighborhoods in which they perform outreach.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
  • Exemplary problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and as a team member.
