Job description

The management of Plant Sciences Group (PSG) envisions the formation of an advisory team of three advisors to support them in the strategic management of the Plant Sciences Group in the coming years. The management consists of a Managing Director and an Operations Director. Due to growth and replacement, we are looking for two advisors. An important selection criteria is whether the advisors are complementary to each other and to the existing advisor. Together you are responsible for management support, each with their own focus area. We are considering emphases in these 3 areas:

  • operations and strategic housing,
  • participation & governance, advise,
  • (scientific) processes & strategy.
  • For the last 2 points, this vacancy has been posted. The tasks are both external, and strategic processes, as well as on internal, administrative/organisational and business management processes. It is important to be a connector who connects PSG with WUR as an entire organisation, and also plays a role in connecting the various parts at PSG internally.

    As advisor, your responsibilities together with the team include :

  • advising, preparing content and providing support in the area of strategy, policy and decision-making by the Management Board;
  • directing the strategy process of PSG and ensuring the creation and updating of various documents, objectives and responsibilities;
  • preparing, organising and following up actions resulting from the strategic plan PSG and the cycle of strategic management meetings between the Executive Board and the chairs and business units;
  • co-drafting and co-preparing the agenda for the Management and staff meetings, MTs, Departmental meetings and promoting and supervising the implementation of the actions;
  • preparing reports to and consultations with the Executive Board;
  • preparing internal and external visits and presentations by the Executive Board;
  • preparing consultation meetings and informal consultations with the employee participation;
  • representing the management/organisation in administratively complex and sometimes conflicting interests and switching between doing things and thinking strategically.
  • leading and supervising various (innovative) processes and projects.
  • providing pragmatic solutions
  • jointly assessing and prioritising work.
  • As an advisor, you will be part of an ambitious team and work together on various issues for the Management Board, which consists of a Managing Director and an Operations Director. Within the team, there is plenty of room for your own initiative and the opportunity to independently take up issues that energise you.

  • You have a completed university education, affinity with the domain of Wageningen University & Research
  • You have gained experience in a similar position with processes within a complex, professional organisation.
  • You are a connector, integer accurate and convincing team player, able to organise processes effectively with respect for everyone's own responsibility.
  • You are good at analysing complex situations with sometimes conflicting interests and have a hands-on mentality.
  • You see work lying around and provide unsolicited support in various situations. You achieve results and get things done.
  • You are a good communicator, have a fluent pen and good oral expression skills (both English and Dutch).
  • In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level C1.     Conditions of employment

  • In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 4.149,- and € 6.978,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 12/13). You will initially receive a one-year contract, which will be extended to an open- ended contract upon in mutual enthusiasm.
