  • The research activity will focus on innovative thermodynamic cycles for electricity, synthetic fuels and thermal power production in energy systems integrating fossil and renewable sources, in a future scenario of decarbonization of the energy sector. The attention will be focused on the identification of innovative working fluids applied to power cycles as well as to power-to-heat and heat-to-power technologies (also known as Carnot batteries) integrated with renewable energies. The objective is the identification of disruptive technologies with higher efficiencies and lower costs with respect to the state of the art and with fast response to the grid needs when considering a high renewable penetration. The activity will be carried out within Spoke 5 of NEST-PE2 project. Funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU.
