  • The research activity initially consists in electromagnetically designing frequency diversity arrays (FDA) operating at both microwaves (eg. 2.45 GHz) and millimeter-wave (eg. 24 GHz) with high focusing capabilities. An important and complex phase of electromagnetic characterization of the prototypes will then follow: the complexity lies in the difficulty of powering an FDA and in the necessary use of a Software Defined Radio for such control. Finally, we will try to make the arrays reconfigurable: for example, by inserting interdigitated capacitance on a ferroelectric substrate in the power supply branches to add the scanning properties of the beam. The foreseen activities need for a deep knowledge of the use of electromagnetic simulation tools, as well as the use of the Vector Network Analyzer (for scattering parameters measure) and of the Spectrum Analyzer (for the radiation pattern measure).
