  • In the framework of a big project funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan by the NextGenerationEU program, we are recruiting a highly motivated candidate for a PhD thesis on advanced and sustainable nanocomposites for sunlight-assisted hydrogen production.

    The thesis work will be focused on composite nanostructured materials in form of thin films, to be used to promote solar-assisted water splitting. By acting on the composition of suitable transition metal oxide nanostructures and investigating the charge transfer processes at the solid-solid interfaces, the aim is to understand the processes that constitute a bottleneck in the charge transfer both within the multiphase catalyst and towards the water solution, for an increased overall efficiency of the process.

    The material preparation, the characterizations and the analysis of the photoinduced charge transfer processes will be carried out at the DFA Physics of Matter Labs. Synchrotron-radiation experiments will be also planned, to look at the involved processes in-situ/in-operando.
