East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Department of Pediatrics and Medical
Education Assistance Corporation (MEAC) seek a qualified Adolescent Medicine
physician. The candidate must have completed a fellowship in Adolescent
Medicine at time of hire and be eligible for board certification. The
successful candidate will be an ETSU employee and receive benefits through
ETSU. Our adolescent program is expanding to include services such as a health
care transition program for youth with special health care needs, an outreach
program to local schools, juvenile justice, child protective services and
youth with gender issues. The position will be an ETSU non-tenure, 12-month
clinical track faculty appointment contingent on MEAC funding.
Responsibilities include delivery of primary and subspecialty care to a
diverse population of adolescents, teaching of medical students and pediatric
residents, and other academic pursuits. We provide care to a large geographic
region that includes northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Southern West
Virginia, Eastern Kentucky and Western North Carolina.
Our region is located at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and offers
excellent schools, a low cost of living, and a wealth of outdoor activities.
The beautiful Smokey Mountain National Park is in close proximity. Two major
interstate highways, I-26 and I-81, serve the area. Air travel is supported by
3 airports less than 90 minutes from the hospital.
Johnson City is currently ranked #14 “Best Small Place for Business and
Careers” in the USA by Forbes and ranked #5 in "The 10 Least-Expensive Cities
for Living in the U.S.A.” by Kiplinger. The Tri-Cities region is the fifth
