Admissions Counselor

The Admissions Counselor for the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) has general responsibility for assisting in the recruitment and enrollment of qualified students for the COPHS. This position will develop and execute recruitment initiatives and assist the Director of Admissions and Recruitment for the COPHS with the implementation of promotional events, information sessions, and program communication plans. In addition, this position will assist with daily admissions functions, including application review and interview days.

Within the normal work schedule set forth in the Western new England University Employee Handbook, this position will involve hours outside of the normal workday, including some evenings and weekends, as necessary to perform essential and/or other tasks.


  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to handle challenging situations diplomatically and resourcefully on phone calls, emails, and in-person interactions.
  • Ability to think creatively (especially in creating and implementing progressive admissions and retention strategies).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications, email applications, internet use (including social media), data entry, and database applications; ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Possess knowledge of the admissions field, the health professions, and University operations.
  • Ability to prioritize, utilize solid judgement, and take initiative, when appropriate.
  • Ownership (or reliable access to) and ability to operate an automobile.
  • Ability to travel
