8:00 am – 5:00 pm; Monday – Friday with evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.

Primary Purpose of Position

This employee is responsible for communicating the admission policies, procedures, and opportunities available at the university to students, parents and community college personnel. The employee is responsible for making admissions decisions on first-year and transfer student applications. The employee has total authority to accept, deny or defer a student's application to the university. The decision and evaluation made by this employee commits UNC Charlotte to a binding contract with the applicant. His/her decisions are not reviewed by his/her supervisor or the Director of Admissions. This will receive a year long training program to become an expert in the decision making field. The admission of students is essential to the mission of the university to educate the people in North Carolina and other states and nations. This position also assists with freshmen recruitment, travel, and application review as needed.

Minimum Education/Experience

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of administrative or office management experience in the student services or related field; or equivalent.

Essential Job Duties

  • Counsel and advise prospective students on admissions requirements, policies, and procedures in-person, via phone, and email.
  • Render admissions decisions on applications for admission applying appropriate criteria and using discernment and good judgment
  • Conduct on and off-campus information sessions for prospective students
  • Conduct recruitment visits at assigned schools in the territory. Develop relationships with school counselors.
  • Develop a communication plan for the territory
  • Other Work Responsibilities

  • Assist with event coordination as needed.
  • Manage a high volume of phone calls and emails
  • Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

    Bachelor's degree required, Related experience working with high school/college students in admission or advising roles preferred. Written and oral communication skills
