College Admissions Counselor/Recruiters are an essential element of the University administrative team. Based on program and location capacity, recruiters build student prospects and new student markets by locating, establishing, assist in developing and implementing recruiting strategies and activities that enhance enrollments.
Essential Functions:
·Discovers and cultivates prospective student and new market leads.
Plans and implements recruitment activities for assigned territories, including primarily the Montgomery Metropolitan Area, and also other Alabama Metropolitan Areas for community college transfers and specialized programs (Corporate Partnerships and Community Spirit Programs).
Counsels prospective applicants on the admissions process and other opportunities available at the University, including one-on-one admissions counseling to diverse populations, utilizing in-person appointments, phone calls, and emails.
Reviews applications and other materials submitted by applicants for the purpose of making admissions decisions.
Coordinates and contributes to the success of various student visit programs designed to recruit targeted prospective applicants to the University, while collaborating effectively with various other departments and offices across campus.
Manages on-going strategic communications with colleges, businesses and state and local government agencies through the use of email, print, phone and other media, while in close consultation with the Director of Enrollment Management.
Assists in the development and delivery of on-campus events and programs for counseling groups and individuals, focusing on communicating information about admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and academic programs to prospective students.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related field from a regionally accredited four-year college or university 2. Minimum of one year of related work experience in higher education and/or sales experience 3. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite and database management 4. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing 5. Ability to comfortably address small to large crowds and answer questions in a professional manner 6. Ability to establish rapport with a diverse customer base 7. Ability to work as part of a larger team 8. Ability to organize and prioritize work tasks
Preferred Qualifications
1.. Master's degree 2. Experience in higher education 3. Knowledge of marketing and sales techniques
Will this position require driving (personal vehicle, university vehicle, utility vehicle, or golf cart) in order to perform the job duties? Driving is a primary responsibility Work Hours
Standard work hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday – Friday Must also be willing to market and recruit in the evenings and on weekends. Frequent travel is required, with occasional overnight travel.
