Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: The Office of Admissions is responsible for the recruitment and eventual enrollment of prospective students at WCU.

Primary Purpose of Position: The position is responsible for the admissions, recruitment and support of prospective undergraduate freshman students of the University. Duties include interviews, campus tours, review of applications, design of literature, and participation in the planning and implementation of the overall admissions and recruitment program.

Job Duties

  • Application Review: This includes reviewing applications for required documents, assessing required coursework, evaluating standardized test scores, GPAs, and ultimately making a decision on admissibility for roughly 2,500 applicants.
  • Communication: This includes not only students and families who have made application, but also of prospective students who are seeking information about the university before applying. This includes speaking with families in person, on the phone, at college fairs, at regional events, and during campus tours and open house events.
  • Training: This position is expected to be up-to-date and knowledgeable of all facets of the university. As the portal of entry for the university, this position will deal with questions of all varieties and must be able to keep up with constant changes in academic and extracurricular programs across the university.
