Job Summary
This position provides continuity of operations with respect to Department, College and University mission and goals while ensuring compliance with University, College and Department policies and procedures and has significant autonomy and decision-making responsibility. Department Summary
The Ethnic Studies Department, in the College of Liberal Arts, offers a B.A. in Comparative Ethnic Studies, and two minors: 1) Ethnic Studies Minor, and 2) Indigenous Studies in Natural Resources and the Environment (INRE) minor. The department offers a range of courses that fulfill general education (GE) and U.S. cultural pluralism requirements (USCP). The major currently supports 50 students, and was established in spring 2006. The minor programs are open to all majors and provide a useful complement to the different types of inquiry used in the wide variety of disciplines throughout the university. There are currently 40 active minors participating in the program. The department is comprised of a department chair, seven tenure-track faculty, and three to five part time lecturers. The department, and its faculty, partner with various campus programs (e.g., Cross cultural Centers, Office of University Diversity and Inclusivity, Center for Teaching Learning and Technology) to provide outreach, service, and education on issues of diversity and inclusion.
