Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The mission of the Department of Chemistry , Physics and Material Sciences ( CPMS) is to provide our students with an excellent education in the physical sciences through coursework in our major concentrations and minor programs, research, and service. We serve the needs of our students by providing a hands-on, engaging experience with faculty and other students, reducing financial barriers, and serving the needs of our nontraditional and military students. Our scholarly activities advance the fields of the physical sciences and provide students with training on safe laboratory practices, professional ethics, and effective communication which prepares them for careers in workforce, graduate school, or other professional schools. We serve our university through our core service courses and innovative collaborative efforts, and we serve the community through our planetarium and other outreach efforts.
Description of Work Continued:
Primary Purpose of the Position: The primary purpose of the position is to provide administrative support to the Chair of the Department of Chemistry, Physics, & Materials Science, faculty members, and students. The Administrative Support Associate prepares letters, memoranda, documents, requisitions, contracts, reports; establishes, organizes, and maintains office files, photocopies, and distributes mail, and complies records/data; greets/assists/refers students/visitors/clients/ faculty/staff/others; makes arrangements for conferences, workshops, and seminars; schedules and coordinates appointments for staff; and orders office supplies. This position also requires knowledge of the office or work units' policies and procedures to communicate information involving programs, functions, and services.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
