Salary Information $33,660.000 Department Summary
The study of English language and literature provides students with an intellectual foundation that will permanently enrich their lives and prepare them for a wide variety of professional paths. Our department features courses in British, American, and anglophone literature; in the art of poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction; and in rhetoric and composition. All of these classes foster intellectual independence and help students to develop the skills of thinking critically, reading deeply, and writing clearly.
Position Overview
This position provides administrative support and performs customer service tasks for the English Department and its students, callers, and visitors.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree and three years of moderately responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Exceptional customer service skills. • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills. • Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures. • Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others. • Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats. • Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple assignments effectively. • Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness. • Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships. • Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Knowledge of UNT policies, procedures, and practices. Experience in higher education. Knowledge of 9.2 Chart of Accounts, COGNOS, ePRO, EIS, and p-Cards.
Required License / Registration / Certification Work Schedule
Full-time, 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. 40 hrs per week.

Classification Title Administrative Specialist Physical Requirements
Job Duties
o
Performs tasks for department chair, associate chair, administrative coordinator, undergraduate advising office, and visitors.
o
Processes requests for travel and departmental travel reimbursements. Makes lodging arrangements for guest speakers, candidates and other visitors.
o
Assists with ePARs for adjuncts and other positions, files all instructor's documentation in the Chair's office. Processes all adjunct documentation.
o
Performs a significant amount of purchasing for the English Department, specifically P-Card and purchase orders – equipment, supplies, services, travel, memberships, images, speaker and lodging reimbursements. Maintains budget tracking sheets.
o
Maintains the department website.
o
Prepares SPOT course evaluations.
o
Maintains strict confidentiality regarding student, staff, and faculty records.
o
Responsible for all departmental event receptions.
o
Works with LPAC and PAC chairs to compile, package and duplicate materials as required. For promotion & tenure, prepares review packages and mails them to outside reviewers. Collects annual updates from all tenure-track instructor.
o
Assists Administrative Coordinator in managing and tracking equipment. Surpluses abandoned items. Ensures Property Custody forms for off-site equipment are completed before it is released the the faulty member.
