The Sr. Administrative Specialist performs complex specialized duties that require advanced knowledge and broader understanding of laboratory projects and department functions. Provides administrative support under minimal supervision to facilitate laboratory operations in the Center for Substance Abuse Research

Responsibilities include: Coordinates/facilitates working relationships and develops ongoing rapport with internal and external contacts in order to serve as key contact regarding guideline interpretation and information requests Organizes and assists with grant preparation Maintains records for studies with human subjects Assesses customer needs with respect to a wide range of issues Facilitates communication and interaction within the lab and other entities at Temple and outside of the University Potentially makes formal presentations to collaborator groups Provides information for budget development and reconciliation Monitors revenue and expenditures for division budget as requested May provide recommendations for policy development/revisions Manages, services, repairs and instructs users on routine applications of departmental systems and resources; manages and supervises laboratory compliance with department, school, university and government regulations pertaining to hazardous materials usage and disposal Places orders for lab and maintains records of invoices and account expenditures Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience: At least three years of administrative experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities: Demonstrated experience managing budgets Knowledge of constructing and submitting research grants Familiarity with medical electronic charting for human subjects Demonstrated proficiency with all applicable software programs Ability to responsibly handle confidential records Comfort working in a laboratory setting

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Prior public speaking and event planning experience

This position requires a background check. This is a grant funded position.
