The compensation for this appointment will range from $21.00 to $26.00 hourly and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this staff appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers a robust suite of employee benefits.

Position Summary Information

Summary

This position will provide secretarial support for the personnel and functions of the Student Support Office, including Student Care, University Card Services, and University Commencement. The administrative secretary will provide general information and assistance for all walk-ins, incoming phone calls and inquiries by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Presents a positive and supportive image of California Baptist University.
  • Provides administrative support to the Associate Dean of Students for Student Care, the Director of Student Mental Health, and other Student Support Office staff.
  • Serves as the primary receptionist for visitors to the Student Support Office.
  • Receives incoming calls, prepares correspondence, maintains departmental records and appropriate databases, and schedules appointments for all Student Support Office-related activities.
  • Collects and maintains all facts pertaining to student care cases that may be submitted to the Student Support Office.
  • Assists in communication with faculty and staff regarding students who may need additional campus resources.
  • Assists in producing University ID Cards, name badges, and other departmental access cards.
  • Assists with operations related to the student meal plan and LancerBucks programs.
  • Assists with operations related to Commencement and Graduate events.
  • Assists with the maintenance of the University's events calendar.
  • Assists with auditing vendor invoices for accuracy and submitting invoices for payment.
  • Orders and maintains suitable levels of office supplies and equipment.
  • Performs other duties that are specific to each of the departments housed within the Student Support Office.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete office work assignments.

  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • A thorough knowledge of Business English and arithmetic, general office methods, procedures, and practices.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the position's duties.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent telephone courtesy, knowledge, and experience.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Education and/or Experience

    Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to three years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
