The University of North Texas College of Music is the largest public university music program in the United States and one of the most globally respected. We offer fully accredited degrees from the bachelor to doctoral levels and is home to the world's first jazz studies degree program now in its 75th year. Faculty include internationally acclaimed artists and scholars in composition, conducting, ethnomusicology, music education, music entrepreneurship, music history, music theory and performance.

Position Overview

The College of Music (COM) is seeking an experienced, self-motivated, and collaborative Administrative Coordinator to join their operations team. The successful candidate will provide administrative support in managing the scheduling and reservation system for the College of Music and assist the Office of the Associate Dean for Operations on a daily bases as needed. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with a new and first-rate scheduling software and database platform and take on an essential role in supporting faculty, staff, and students in one of the largest public and nationally recognized music institutions in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and three years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

• Exceptional customer service skills. • Advanced written communication skills. • Advanced Microsoft Office skills. • Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures. • Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others. • Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats. • Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively. • Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness. • Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships. • Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, two years of relevant professional experience, and a background in music. Experience with system application integration and IT background.

Job Duties

o

Manage the scheduling and reservation system for the COM and assist the office of the Associate Dean for Operations on an ongoing basis when needed.

o

Manage the College's calendar of events: schedule performance and rehearsal spaces; schedule recitals for students, faculty and guest artists; review external events in coordination with other COM staff.

o

Coordinate event scheduling with other administration, faculty and staff, including the Events Coordinator for the Murchison Performing Arts Center.

o

Manage the scheduling of meetings and other events in COM as needed.

o

Schedule the use of classrooms and venues for all summer COM music workshops.

o

Collaborate effectively with the offices of COM Recording Services, Graduate Studies, Programs, and Marketing offices.

o

Help faculty, staff and students with reservation system questions; provide information about scheduling and associated services.

o

Assist Associate Dean for Operations with the COM annual physical inventory, certification and working with department chairs and their administrative assistants with deadlines.

o

Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for Operations, may be responsible for various special projects in support of the college's strategic initiatives or college events.
