Job Summary

Reporting to the Food Service Director, this position plans and directs multiple administrative operations of Dining and Retail Services to advance program goals and objectives providing strategic planning and policy development, financial, budgetary and operational leadership to all areas of Dining and Retail Services. This includes information technology system needs and directing the administrative operations for Retail Services (includes Residential Dining, Restaurant Operations, PantherShop, Campus PantherCard Operations, Cash Operations, Business Office and the revenue and expense contracts), in the Division of Student Affairs. Dining and Retail Services employs approximately 80 full-time university and academic staff employees, and more than 500 students and Temporary Employees.

  • Establishes financial goals for Dining and Retail Services, strategically plans and establishes policies to support the department, develops the $18 million annual operating program revenue budget and subsequent 5 year plan including capital planning ($250,000 – $2 million annually), identifies operational needs from an IT perspective, and plans for the implementation of those IT needs.
  • Develops policies, establishing procedures with operation controls for all administrative units of Dining and Retail Services. Of key importance is the financial standards of operational units, internal controls and financial policy. Establishment of strong internal controls, implementation of sounds business practices, and insuring compliance with these established policies is required.
  • Plans the objectives and directs the activities of the full-time and part- time staff for Dining and Retail Services for Campus Card Services, Cash Services, Dining and Retail Services business office, IT needs, and contracts/purchasing for the department including the hiring, evaluation, and other supervisory aspects of managing staff. This position will directly supervise two full-time and one part-time staff.
  • Serves as the Department's liaison, business representative, within the Division of Student Affairs communicating and interacting with other campus personnel regarding all financial matters in a fast-paced complex environment providing expert advice, guidance and consultation, including representation on campus committees (Fees, PCI compliance, etc.) as required.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five years relevant work experience in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Two years' experience in a supervisory role
  • Excellent, collaborative, communication skills including the ability to effectively interact with a diverse population
  • Evidence of strong organizational, planning, analytical, and problem- solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and/or specialized training or certification in related subject matter
  • Experience working in higher education environment; food service a plus
  • Project Management experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully plan and execute deadline-driven projects with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills that establish prior experience engaging and building relationships
  • Demonstrated understanding of cost accounting principles including break- even/profit analysis for individual projects
  • Demonstrated ability to review systems and/or internal controls, recommend changes to systems/controls, and implement those changes to benefit the organization
