  • Experience maintaining confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work efficiently and take initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Legal Permanent Resident (LPR) per federal regulations for DSO approval and SEVIS access. Applicants will be asked to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or LPR during the interview.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Effective at using organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to prioritize work efficiently and complete work within established deadlines.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations with professional decorum while providing excellent customer service.
  • Effective at understanding and explaining complex procedures and information to a culturally diverse population.
  • Excellent in proofreading and preparing grammatically correct documents.
  • Knowledge of immigration policies particularly F-1 and J-1 regulations.
  • Experience working with international students at a college or university.
  • Experience using SAP or similar enterprise system for purchasing transactions, travel requests, and approving student worker's times.

  • Job Description

    International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) seeks a competent, friendly, adaptable, organized, and dependable administrative professional with excellent interpersonal skills to provide support in a dynamic environment. The Administrative Assistant II is responsible for providing administrative and general clerical support to ISSS and international students, scholars, faculty, and guests.

    Job Duties

  • Assist in managing the daily operations of the ISSS Front Desk.
  • Supervise student workers including training, hiring, scheduling, and delegating tasks.
  • Manage office email inboxes and phone lines to provide constituents with timely and accurate information.
  • Responsible for file and records management and coordinating retention schedules per university policy.
  • Manage inventory and purchasing of office supplies and event materials.
  • Assist with monitoring transactions of operating budget, reviewing purchase orders and invoices.
  • Assist with ISSS events and programming.
  • Provide support to international advisors as needed.
  • Attend professional development workshops hosted by Texas State University's Human Resources office.
  • Position may require working evenings or weekends several times per year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
