Position Function:

To provide executive assistance to the Dean of Nursing in carrying out of the mission of the unit and the institution. Serves as liaison between Nursing and other Health Sciences programs, specifically related to facility use and scheduling. Manages the budget and daily operation of the department and provides leadership and guidance to staff members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Independently functions to coordinate all support activities related to the Nursing program. 2. Manages the daily operations of the Nursing program. Messages Program schedule Faculty Schedules Interview Scheduling 3. Develops and maintains departmental and student record keeping systems. 4. Develops confidential student files according to MSU, and departmental requirements. 5. Manages the operating budget for the Nursing program. 6. Identifies operational problems and implements changes to provide resolution. 7. Responsible for executing with minimal direction, administrative duties at the highest level with considerable discretion and judgment. 8. Plans, organizes and coordinates the administrative duties of the department. 9. Coordinates and interacts with other executives and administrators or their associates within institutional, system, professional or governmental settings. 10. Prepares or directs preparation of annual reports, graphs, charts using supportive programs, and MSU program data. 11. Responds to or initiates correspondence of a confidential or technical nature including: Program requirements Interviews Admissions Waitlist Declined Students Students not in good standing Students with academic, personal or financial challenges 12. Prepares weekly meeting agendas. 13. Takes notes in all faculty meetings. 14. Adheres to internal controls and reporting structures. 15. Collects, maintains, and monitors statistics related to program using specific programs. 16. Participates in student interviews, admissions, matriculation, and academic processes. 17. Develops and maintains statistical and financial reports for MSU, and other required organizations. 18. Schedules and organizes appointments, meetings, and agendas for departmental employees. 19. Process electronically all personnel, student and purchasing transactions following institutional policies and procedures. 20. Assists in the recruitment of staff and support personnel. 21. Conducts special projects at the request of the Dean. 22. Coordinates recruitment and admission activities of program participants, including appointments, termination, performance evaluation/grades. 23. Maintains records; compiles statistical data on program and participants and prepares reports on admission activities. 24. Acts as a resource person for applicants. 25. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.), standard office equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Education: H.S. diploma or equivalent. -4 years experience related to the duties

Indicated education is required; no substitutions allowed. When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one year relevant education per year of related experience.

- Excellent people skills - Excellent written and oral communications skills - Organization and attention to detail - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.), standard office equipment - Ability to adapt to varying schedules and tasks

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. - No or very limited exposure to physical risk. - No or very limited physical effort required. - Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
