Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Dean of the School of Business, the
administrative assistant/receptionist performs duties relative to service of
faculty, staff, and the general public in carrying out functions of the School
of Business.
Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the university in implementing the Statement of Purpose
Assist the university in implementing the long-range institutional and
financial plans
Participate in the annual evaluation of the effectiveness of the School of
Business
Maintain student files for student advisement and correspondence
Maintain student tracking logs
Enter student schedules and other information into CAMS
Supervise work-study students assigned to the office
Perform office duties which include answering the phone, providing
information for students, making appointments, and ordering office
supplies
Maintain rapport with all persons who interact with the School of Business
Organize materials for School of Business faculty meetings. Take minutes
of the meetings
Work closely with other university offices to provide adequate flow of
information such as rosters, registration forms, absentee follow-up
reports, maintenance and IT work orders
Maintain class schedules and room utilization charts for the School of
Business
Prepare and track applications for degree for undergraduate and graduate
students
Track contact with prospective students
Order textbooks for faculty
Prepare departmental correspondence
Scan and copy documents for faculty
Issue and track keys for use of the Business Building
Coordinate School of Business events
Assist with School of Business student organization activities
Archive student records and departmental documents
Receive, sort, and deliver mail
Organize information for student advisement
Required Qualifications
Ability to use common office productivity software, including Microsoft
Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook)
Ability to learn WCU's CAMS system
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
and people
Ability to respect and adhere to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy
Act
High school diploma
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as an administrative assistant
Bachelor's degree
Physical Demands
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, and to use
standard office equipment including a computer
Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing
and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Must have strength and agility to move files, paper boxes, and minor
office equipment
