Admin Assistant

Oxford Respiratory Trials Unit, Oxford Centre for Respiratory Medicine, Churchill Hospital, Oxford

About the Role

We are looking for a hardworking Administrative Assistant to join the Oxford Respiratory Trials Unit (ORTU) based at the Churchill Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for those who are looking for new challenges, with good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to manage a varying workload in a timely manner.

This post requires someone who can work both as a member of a multi- disciplinary team and independently. You will be responsible for the administration for the UK Pleural Society, organising courses and conferences as well as providing general administration support for ORTU, preparing and distributing agendas, minutes, documentation, and correspondence, as well as carrying out small administrative projects as directed. This role will give you relevant training to ensure that you have an understanding that all research must be conducted according to ICH-GCP, the EU Directive on Good Clinical Practice and the Research Governance Guidelines as you will be required to assist the team in upholding these.

About you

You will be educated to GCSE (grade A-C) level in English and Maths, or equivalent. This, together with experience of managing administrative processes with a background in customer service are essential for this role. Having the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels both in writing and verbally, as well as having the ability to interpret, apply and communicate regulations and procedures are both critical capabilities for this post.

You will have the ability to work independently, with minimum supervision, and a willingness to resolve situations, as well as knowing when to refer issues to others. It is essential that you demonstrate that you have the ability to organise own workload and to work to deadlines, showing you have previous experience of working effectively under pressure. Experience of working in a clinical research environment is desirable for this role.
