Salary is according to the Non-Bargaining Unit Salary Schedule.

    Responsibilities

    Seminole State College is seeking adjunct faculty with a personal and professional commitment to student learning. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, collaborative and diverse faculty educating highly motivated students. We are one of the fastest-growing state colleges in Florida, offering 196 degrees and programs, including five bachelor's degrees. We serve Central Florida with six sites and more than 32,000 students. We are also recognized for our expert faculty and staff's unwavering commitment to student success.     THIS IS A POOL POSITION. This is a temporary part-time adjunct teaching position. Applications for adjunct faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed when openings become available. Applications remain active for one year from the date received. Associate Deans will review applications only when positions become available.

    Teaching strategies will be incorporated to foster student learning, success and retention. Adjunct faculty will work with other faculty in support of curricula improvement as appropriate to promote students' success and mastery of course, Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) Florida Educator Accopmplished Practices (FEAPS), and program competencies. The person in this position will plan, organize and teach classes as assigned. Flexible hours, days and assigned campus location may vary due to enrollment.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Master's degree in Education or specialized education subfield from a regionally accredited institution.

    2. Previous K-12 teaching, administrative, or supervisory experience.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Demonstrated understanding of the Common Core and Florida State Standards and Active Engagement approach to teaching. 2. Professional Educator's Certification.

    KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS:

    1. A personal and professional commitment to creating an atmosphere of quality instruction at SCC. 2. English reading, writing and speaking skills at the native level of fluency. 3. Ability to utilize technology and innovative pedagogy to enhance teaching and learning. 4. Understanding of and commitment to working with a diverse student population in a multicultural environment. 5. Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing. 6. Committed to working in a multi-cultural environment.

    Conditions of Employment

    Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position.
