We are currently seeking adjunct nursing faculty in the following areas or
Seeking experienced pediatric nurses
Applications from other clinical nursing specialties are always welcome for
consideration. Interviews will begin once completed applications are received
and minimum qualifications are met.
There are opportunities to teach other courses based on skill level and
departmental needs. Positions are filled on a term basis to fill the changing
needs of the College of Health and Society. Courses, clinicals, and laboratory
experiences are offered days, weekends and evenings to meet the needs of the
University, our students and our community partners.
The College of Health and Society undergraduate and graduate nursing programs
are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Visit our

Baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing. Degree must be granted by
institutions accredited by one of the six regional accrediting agencies in
the United States or from another country by the Ministry of Education or
comparable body in that country.
A current and unencumbered Hawaii Registered Nurse license.
Applicants also need to fulfill one or more of the following three
6000 or more hours of clinical experience within the last 5 years providing direct patient care, direct patient care experience must be congruent with the proposed teaching assignment. (2000 hours = one year of FT employment)
Current Nursing Certification aligned with the proposed clinical area of the teaching assignment
Minimum two years of clinical teaching experience (18 months) within the last 5 years with BSN and/or AND students. This teaching experience must be in an area consistent with the new/proposed teaching assignement.
A graduate degree in nursing with a relevant and recent clinical (2000
hours) experience within the last 5 years.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa
sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.
Experience working effectively with those of other cultures and
backgrounds, including the commitment to building a culturally diverse
Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work
during HPU's winter break, if necessary.
Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the
Protection of Minors policy.
Upon hire, candidate must have reliable personal transportation to
facilitate travel between to all HPU worksites and other locations as
required by the position.
Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends.
Able to teach classes at multiple locations on Oahu.
Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize
excellent time and stress management skills.
Must submit a tuberculosis clearance upon hire.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
Teaches one or more academic subjects in area of discipline within prescribed curriculum.
Prepares and delivers course content to students, whether in the classroom, clinical laboratory or online.
Stimulates class discussions.
Regular attendance as required by the course.
Compiles materials for course as needed for readings or assignments. (10%)
Compiles administers, and grades examinations and other assignments. (10%)
Performs other related duties as assigned.
