College of the Mainland is seeking Adjunct Music Instructors onsite and/or online. This posting seeks qualified applicants to form a pool of candidates for potential ongoing need supported by enrollment.

Master's Degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Music.
Preferred Education/Training/Experience
Classroom teaching experience including, but not limited to, general music appreciation courses, class piano. Applied music experience also desired.
Minimum Knowledge & Skills
Principles and practices of teaching general music classes and/or applied music lessons; Detailed knowledge of material being taught in the specific courses and program area; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction; Basic computer literacy sufficient to perform job duties; Knowledge of student engagement techniques, learning styles, retention strategies, and learning-centered philosophy; Experience with or willingness to learn latest teaching/learning technologies and online instruction; Record keeping procedures.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
Online teaching, experience in recruiting a private lesson studio and/or ensembles such as Jazz, Mariachi, Pop, R&B, Rap genres.
Job Duties
- Comply with all college policies and safety policies to ensure a positive learning environment for student instruction and to support the activities of the college and to attend meetings and training as required. - Teach courses such as Applied Music, Class Piano, American Music, Music Appreciation, as qualified and assigned. - Participate in departmental recruitment activities as needed. - Maintain professional credentials and contacts outside of COM such as MTNA, NATS, TMEA, etc. - Maintain a minimum of one scheduled office hour each week per course to be available for students. - Prepare course documents (syllabi) according to college template in a timely manner. - Turn in semester grades before stated deadlines. - Report to chair of students enrolled in classes that express interest in music activities or potentially considering a major in music.

Physical Requirements
Moderate physical demand. Must be able to stoop, bend, lift up to 25 pounds, and assist in setup for studio class, recitals, juries if teaching private lessons.
