The Department of Secondary Education (SEED) at Brooklyn College welcomes qualified applicants to teach undergraduate and graduate education courses for the 2022-2023 academic year. We seek part-time faculty to teach courses in Social Studies, Math, Science, English as a Foreign Language, Physical Education (including anatomy, physiology, motor development) inclusive and special education, the social foundations of education (history, sociology and philosophy), and to supervise student teachers in middle and high schools.

Adjunct faculty will perform some or all of the following tasks across a semester: 1) teaching and course preparation; 2) interaction with students through office hours; 3) attend relevant meetings with program faculty, 4) field supervision on-site in schools. Adjunct faculty are also responsible for collecting and reporting student data for select courses.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.


For Adjunct Assistant Professor:

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required is the ability to teach successfully.

For Adjunct Lecturer:

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.

Preferred Qualifications:

All qualified applicants should have at least 10 years of experience teaching at the secondary level. Prior experience in coaching and mentoring new and practicing teachers and familiarity with culturally sustaining and anti-racist pedagogy is preferred.


Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
