Job Title Adjunct Instructor - Sterile Processing/Instrument Technician

As a part-time instructor in the Health Science Department, the instructor
will instruct the vocational field of sterile processing. Maintain performance
standards and pursue goals, objectives, and activities that promote the
mission and values of the College.
Teach sterile processing courses within the Sterile Processing Program. May
teach a range of subjects, including but not limited to Sterile Processing
specific courses, Customer Service, and Law & Ethics.
The instructional staff is be responsible for directing, evaluating, and
reporting student progress toward course objectives.
Responsible for the periodic review, updating, and development of course
materials and curriculum.
Promote excellence in instruction.
Identify and meet the learning needs of students.
Develop course schedules and syllabi.
Plan, develop, and deliver lectures and activities. Develop tests and other
assessment methods to evaluate student progress and competence.
Plan, develop, and deliver laboratory instruction incorporating state-of-
the-art industry practices.
Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and
socioeconomic backgrounds and ages, and successfully interact with
supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an education team.
Communicate effectively in oral and written English.
Keep accurate grade and attendance records in the Learning Management System
Understand adult education learning theory.
Knowledge and understanding of the professional career paths and demand of
Sensitivity to the needs and requirements of adult learners.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Above average computer skills.
Exhibition of respect and professionalism in a spirit of collegiality.
Microsoft Office proficient.
Ability to promote an effective environment for learning in lecture and lab
Ability to teach students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
Must possess a credential in the field of sterile processing through a
national certification agency such as the International Association of
Healthcare Central Service Management (IAHCSMM).
A minimum of four (4) years of experience in either the operating room
scrub role, sterile processing, or surgical technology.
Must hold the credential of CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service
Technician) from IAHCSMM
Teaching experience (preferred)
Associate Degree (preferred)
