Job Description Summary
Lewis University's Department of Music seeks an active and charismatic
orchestra conductor to begin immediately. As an adjunct instructor, the
candidate will conduct the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO), a
60-piece orchestra and a credit-granting ensemble in residence at Lewis
University. With strong administrative support, the conductor will be actively
engaged in and lead recruiting efforts. Salary is competitive to other adjunct
positions in area and also includes an additional stipend paid by MYSO.
Additional classroom teaching opportunities will likely also become available.

MYSO rehearses on Wednesday nights from 6-8:30pm with concerts scheduled on
Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. As the conductor and artistic
director, the conductor will also work with the MYSO Board of Directors.
Teach one or more classes
Availability to hold office hours and meet with other faculty members and
department chairs or directors when necessary
With administrative support, direct recruitment efforts for the orchestra
Serve as a model of professionalism and act as a resource for students within
the teaching-learning environment.
Masters degree is required. Strong technology skills and college teaching
experience preferred. Strong commitment to teaching and recruitment.
