The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor for English for the 2023-2024 Academic year.

UNT Dallas is a dynamically growing institution, and the number of available adjunct positions is dependent on student enrollment, division needs, and approval of the dean. Adjunct faculty plan classes and implement and evaluate teaching/learning objectives and student learning outcomes. Adjunct faculty undertake the divisional and professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member, including office hours. The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction in entry-level English courses, including Developmental Writing, College Writing I and II, Technical Writing, and World Literature.

Position Summary

Adjunct faculty members may be required to use certain texts and meet certain parameters set by the Department of Languages and Communication. Adjunct instructors will also be required to include in their courses certain student assessment measures determined by the department, and to compile data on those assessment criteria.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in English or Rhetoric and Composition with outstanding teaching experience in developmental and lower-level English courses.
  • Ph.D. in English or Rhetoric and Composition which includes 18 graduate hours in English or Rhetoric and Composition.
  • Successful experience teaching non-traditional students in a post- secondary institution.
  • Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills in multicultural settings.
  • Experience teaching writing in a computer-equipped classroom.
  • Experience developing and teaching online and/or hybrid courses, preferably on CANVAS.
  • Experience related to one or more of the following areas: ESL, learning communities, writing across the curriculum (WAC), writing in the disciplines.
  • Required License / Registration / Certification Work Schedule
