The UAS Sitka Campus invites applications from qualified individuals
interested in helping students attain their educational goals. Instruction
method will be either online or face-to-face, or a combination of both. We are
looking to increase our adjunct faculty pool in the following subject areas:
Biology / Physics English / Communications Art / Music Other General Education
content areas Applied Fisheries / Oceanography Northwest Coast Art / NWC
Language Engine Repair / Welding Applications will be reviewed continuously
throughout AY21/22 for possible teaching assignments beginning July 2021. If
you possess a desire to help students succeed in reaching their goals, we
encourage you to apply. Adjunct positions are on a semester-by-semester
contract basis, and governed by a collective bargaining agreement. Successful
applicants are REQUIRED to be available to work in Sitka for face-to-face
courses or physically in Alaska for online courses.
Teach one or more courses consistent with UAS student learning outcomes and
assessment methods. Design curriculum, prepare syllabus and lesson plans.
Evaluate student learning, provide timely feedback to students. Hold office
hours or be available for contact with students.Essential
Knowledge of accepted instruction methods.
Demonstrated skills in teaching at the lower-division course level preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Applicants will be evaluated on suitability of their academic preparation,
past teaching experience, and potential for providing high quality instruction
to undergraduate students.
Experience relevant to effectively teach in content area.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Master's degree or terminal degree relevant to content area; minimum of
Master's degree in content area required to teach General Education
Requirement (GER) courses.
This is an at-will, union represented adjunct position, and may be cancelled
based upon the needs of the university.
