  • Position Summary:

    The College of Arts and Sciences, Natural Science Division at UAA is seeking applicants for its adjunct instructor pool for the following Adjunct Faculty: Biology - Chemistry - Geology - Physics / Astronomy. Applicants must be available to work within Alaska during the length of the assignment.

    Duties:

    100%The incumbent will be responsible for teaching one or more courses in a manner consistent with the course content guide. Adjunct faculty are expected to be available for contact with students and hold office hours appropriate for the course(s) being taught. This is a pooled position and applicants will be reviewed on an as needed basis. Acceptance into the pool does not constitute an offer of employment, nor does having worked one semester guarantee that a position will be available the following semester. Hiring decisions are made on a semester-by-semester basis according to the needs of that semester's schedule. To be eligible for this position, applicants must be legally authorized for unrestricted employment in the United States. No work visas will be sponsored for this position. Applicants must be available to work within Alaska during the length of the assignment.Essential

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    Applicants must be available to work within Alaska during the length of the assignment. Applicants will be evaluated on the suitability of their academic preparations, past teaching experience, and potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students in a manner consistent with the specific course content guidelines for the following departments:

    Biology Chemistry Geology Physics / Astronomy

    TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

    Applicants must have experience relevant to teaching the specific course content.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

    MA/MS in Biology, Chemistry, Geology or Physics/Astronomy or a related field, unless an exception has been approved by the Dean of CAS. Exceptions may be made in other circumstances when prospective faculty have special professional credentials and experience.
