    Job Summary: We are currently seeking adjunct public health faculty to teach undergraduate (BSPH) and graduate (MPH) courses in the following areas:

    Health Behavior Theory Environmental Health Health Policy and Advocacy Public Health Program Planning Social Determinants of Health Epidemiology Public Health Research Methods Human Diseases and Conditions Public Health Field Training Public Health Capstone

    These positions are temporary and part-time in nature. Positions are assigned on a per term or semester basis to fill the changing needs of the Department of Public Health and College of Health & Society. Courses are offered days, evenings, and/or weekends to meet the needs of the University, our students, and our community partners.

    Openings are anticipated for the coming Fall 2021 (August – December), and Spring 2022 (January – May).

    Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in public health or equivalent degree related to the area(s) above.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the area(s) above.
  • At least one year of university teaching experience or evidence of teaching as part of professional practice.
  • At least one year of experience in professional practice related to the area(s) above.
  • Desired Qualifications:

  • DrPH, PhD in public health, or equivalent degree related to the area(s) above.
  • Two years of recent public health work experience.
  • At least two years of university teaching experience.
  • Availability to teach courses during weekdays (8 AM – 5 PM) and/or weeknights (5 – 8 PM).
  • Experience with online teaching using Blackboard LMS or similar applications.
  • Other Qualifications:

  • Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU's spring/summer/winter break, if necessary.
  • Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
  • Upon hire, candidate must have reliable personal transportation to facilitate travel between all HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position. This includes a valid driver's license and a personal vehicle that is legally registered and insured.
  • Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and/or weekends.
  • Able to teach classes at multiple locations.
  • Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions: 1. Teaching (90%)

  • Regular class delivery
  • Appropriate course development and management: assignments, work flow, grading, classroom conducive to learning
  • 2. Faculty Membership (5%)

  • Regular attendance at University, College, and department meetings.
  • Regular attendance at community outreach events (if assigned).
  • Regular attendance and participation in Committee meetings (if assigned).
  • 3. Performs other related duties as assigned (5%)

  • Actively participates as an effective member of team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.
