SCF is seeking Adjunct Faculty, for our Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development Department to teach Non Credit Certified Nursing Assistant in Lakewood Ranch for the Spring 2022 semester.

Job Summary:

An adjunct faculty member will be responsible for maintaining the highest academic standards in his/her particular discipline. The individual is expected to exercise professionalism in all activities related to the role of academician, including those concerned with the various duties assigned by the Department Chair, and any involvement with colleagues, peers, community and students. The position of an adjunct faculty member is temporary, and is contracted as needed.

Under the direct supervision of the Dean, Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development and Assistant Dean, Nursing, provides instruction for Certified Nursing Assistant courses, maintains course documentation, and delivers related Nursing Assistant Program communication.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

1. Provide on-site, entry level instruction (theory, skill, and clinical) for Nursing Assistant students.

2. Plan, select, prepare, and implement appropriate active learning activities to meet all course competencies.

3. Prepare and utilize reliable and valid formative and summative in-class assessment

tools/techniques to measure students' achievement of course competencies.

4. Deliver course competencies, performance criteria, established approved grading

procedures and standards, attendance and class policies/procedures, and other necessary information to students at the beginning of the course.

5. Deliver instruction using active learning methods accommodating different learning styles.

6. Provide guidance to students regarding course progress.

7. Review and revise delivery methods, instructional materials, learning activities, and

assessment tools in collaboration with the Assistant Dean, Nursing.

8. Work collaboratively with the Dean, Assistant Dean, colleagues, and staff members to integrate instructional activities and materials.

9. Provide weekly email updates to the Assistant Dean, Nursing.

10. Maintain a shared excel spreadsheet of student attendance, quiz grades, and skills checklist success.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements

1. Ability to deliver instruction using active learning methods which accommodate different learning styles.

2. Ability to plan, select, prepare, and implement appropriate active learning activities to meet all course competencies.

3. Ability to develop, utilize, and update course competence and summaries.

4. Ability to demonstrate competency in the nursing field.

5. Good oral/written communication skills.

6. Demonstrated ability and experience working with diverse populations.

7. Ability to work collaboratively with other colleagues and staff.

8. Ability to provide guidance and advice to students as needed.

9. Working knowledge of computer concepts.

10. Working knowledge of healthcare simulation.

Additional Qualifications:

1.Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) degree or higher

2. An active nursing license from the State of Florida.

3.Background check (Level 2) clearance, negative urine drug test, health assessment clearance, immunization verification, and current CPR training. 4.Previous healthcare teaching experience including but not limited to CPR/ACLS/PALS instruction, leading hospital orientation, professional in- service/education, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years post-secondary teaching experience preferably in CNA, LPN, RN, or other healthcare related field.

Two years recent (within the past 5 years) work experience in home health care, or other health care settings which utilize nursing assistants.
