All adjunct faculty must meet JSU's minimum requirement for course work at the graduate level, i.e., having completed at least 18 graduate semester hours of course work in the discipline to be taught and holding at least a master's degree or holding the minimum of a master's degree with a major in the teaching discipline. Adjunct faculty members receive no fringe benefits other than those required by Federal or State Law, e.g. FICA, and do not accrue time toward and are not eligible for tenure or promotion or retirement credit.
Department Information
Located in 119 Ayers Hall and part of the College of Science and Mathematics, the Department of Mathematical, Computing, and Information Sciences (MCIS) offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, and Mathematics.
In addition, MCIS offers Master's of Science degrees in Mathematics, and Computer Systems and Software Design.
Job Summary
Adjunct instructors are needed to teach developmental courses to assist students who are not prepared to begin study in college mathematics. Experience teaching in a traditional classroom is desired.
