Description

Job Summary:

Teach introductory course(s) in Anthropology. Plan and supervise semester activities that meet course objectives, maintain records on and evaluate student performance, assign grades.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Anthropology or related field

Desired Qualifications:

Doctorate degree in Anthropology or related field

Experience teaching university students in a diverse environment

Other Qualifications:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.

Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU's winter break, if necessary.

Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.

Able to teach classes scheduled during evenings.

Able to teach classes at multiple locations on Oahu.

Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:

1. Instruction (90%)

Follow a syllabus of course activities, using established university requirements, appropriate student learning outcomes, and grading methods throughout the semester.

Plan and deliver individual classes that conform to the syllabus and other requirements of the University.

Maintain records on student participation and performance, evaluate student performance on the basis of established student learning outcomes, and assign grades.

Hold office hours and respond to student questions.

2. Administration (5%)

Submit required documents (including student grades) in a timely manner.

Meet deadlines and follow direction of the program/department chair.

3. Other (5%)

Actively participates as an effective member of team by completed assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.

Assists with seasonal peaks.
