Job Summary

As a member of the Acquisitions Unit in the Information Resource Management Department, the Acquisitions Specialist shares responsibilities for the lifecycle of acquisitions of scholarly library resources, including renewing resources and paying invoices, working with vendors, troubleshooting access issues, maintaining documentation, participating in cancellation projects, as well as other related duties. Works collaboratively with other Library units and departments on how to organize and present resources in the library catalog and/or web pages

Essential Functions

  • Participates in the management of the order, renewal and cancellation process of electronic continuing resources.

  • Maintains and updates records in the Libraries' resource management systems.

  • Troubleshoots issues with electronic access and linking.

  • Works collaboratively with other departments and units in the Library to ensure access to electronic resources and participate in promoting awareness of these resources to the University Libraries user community.

  • Communicates with vendors as needed to determine resources covered by agreements.

  • Retrieves renewal and invoice information from vendor and consortia systems.

  • Provides supporting data for renewal and cancellation decisions.

  • Processes and records invoices in the acquisitions accounting module of the Library Services Platform.

  • Participates in maintaining Libraries' branding on third party platforms.

  • Other Functions

  • Works collaboratively and effectively in support of the Libraries' values to promote teamwork, diversity, equality, and inclusiveness within the Libraries and the campus.

  • Attends professional development activities as assigned or required to meet departmental goals and objectives.

  • Participates in the Libraries' assessment program by collecting, maintaining, and recording usage statistics for monthly reports as needed.

  • Serves on internal library committees as needed.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned and in support of the mission and goals of the Libraries and the department.

  • Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • High school diploma and two years' work experience related to the duties of this position, or Associates Degree and one year of work experience related to the duties of this position.

  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak the English language and to communicate well both orally and in writing.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.

  • Ability to organize work appropriately, assess work priorities, and work independently.

  • Experience using web-based tools or resources, preferably in an educational environment.

  • Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Prior relevant experience in a library.
  • Work Schedule

    Monday-Friday, daytime hours.
