  • Position Summary:

    The UA Foundation is seeking an Accounting Associate to join the fiscal services team. We are looking for a conscientious individual who has a solid technical base in accounting, strong problem solving and analytical skills, and works well with others.

    Duties:

    20General Duties: Assists with work tasks performed by other accounting staff; Responds to accounting data requests and inquiries; Participates and collaborates on work process improvement efforts; Performs other duties as assigned.Essential

    30Accounts Payable: Processes payments for program support and student aid to the University of Alaska; Reviews and matches supporting documentation for A/P transactions and enters operating expense transactions in the general ledger; Prepares annual 1099 forms for payments to vendors and charitable gift annuity contract holdersEssential

    50Contribution Revenue Accounting: Enters new gift batches in the general ledger; Adds gift fee, cash, and investment accounts to contribution related journal entries; Checks journal entries for errors and and prepares them for review and posting by another member of the accounting team; Performs monthly reconciliations of contributions recorded in Raiser's Edge donor database and amounts posted in the Financial Edge accounting software; Assists with monthly depository bank account reconciliation by matching bank deposits and gift batch journal entriesEssential

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of accounting theory and fund accounting principles.
  • Experience with automated financial accounting systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using MS Excel and Office productivity software applications.
  • Required Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, is required. While accounting experience is helpful to already have, we will train the right candidate.
  • Having two years of professional fiscal experience in a non-profit, governmental, or higher education field is preferred.
  • Salary Information:

    This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
