Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Position Summary

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is seeking an academic Surgical Pathologist for a tenure-track/or fixed-term faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will involve diagnostic surgical pathology. Any combination of the following areas of subspecialty expertise would complement our existing group: ENT/Head and Neck, Gastrointestinal/Liver, Thoracic, and/or Bone and Soft Tissue. The ideal candidate would have a primary and secondary service assignment. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Regular opportunities are available for teaching in the School of Medicine and the Graduate School.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

The applicant must have an MD degree, be board-certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology, and be eligible to obtain a medical license in North Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Sign-out experience, fellowship training, and/or interest in ENT/Head and Neck, GI/Liver, and/or Bone and Soft Tissue or general Surgical Pathology is strongly preferred. The University of North Carolina School of Medicine has an exceptionally strong Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases. Particular consideration will be given to applicants with expertise and/or academic interest in global pathology.
