Costume Studio Supervisor:
The Department of Theatre, Drama, & Contemporary Dance www. theatre.indiana.edu at Indiana University, Bloomington, invites applicants for a full-time (12-month) Costume Studio Supervisor in a non- tenure-track position of Academic Specialist. Ideal start date June 1st, 2023.
Position serves as Costume Studio Supervisor of an artistically diverse and robust academic production season (August-May) and summer professional theatre season Indiana University Summer Theatre (IUST). Works in close collaboration with the department's Assistant Costume Studio Supervisor and Director of Dance Costumes (ACSS-DDC). The position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the studio, supervision of graduate students, hourly employees, and liaise with costume guest artists. Position and ACSS-DDC work together in decisions regarding studio employee duties and assignments, policies, procedures, budget, purchasing, calendars, stock maintenance, studio maintenance and workflow. The position is expected to train wardrobe supervisors and attend early dress rehearsals; it requires navigating backstage training and occasionally lifting fabric and costumes up to 30 pounds.

The candidate must be ready to support and engage with the intellectual and creative life of the department.
Applicant must have excellent organizational and professional interpersonal skills, significant expertise in costume construction, and a commitment to working in a professional training program environment. Applicants must have either a degree in costuming or commensurate professional experience in costume supervision and/or direction in an academic or industry costume department.
