Academic Senior Lecturer - Assessment Lead Aston Medical School Location: Aston University Main Campus

Salary: £51,799 to £60,022 Grade: Grade 10 Contract Type: Continuing

Basis: Full Time Closing Date: 23.59 hours BST on Sunday 05 June 2022 Interview Date: To be confirmed Reference: R220312 Release Date: Wednesday 18 May 2022

Aston Medical School is recently established, admitting its first medical students in September 2018. The School promotes social mobility, and focuses on leadership qualities, international connectivity in medicine and highly interactive learning experiences to prepare students for the challenges of clinical practice. This is underpinned by a programme of translational research aimed at transforming lives.

We now have an exciting full or part time opportunity for an Assessment Lead, a senior member of our MBChB team, to take forward the development and implementation of an evidence-informed programme of assessment across the MBChB. This will include work to prepare for the national Medical Licensing Assessment to be delivered in 2024/25.

Supported by academic staff in each Year of the programme, the assessment administrative team and the Programme Director, the successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of Assessment, operating within policy set by the Programme Committee, and the University. The Assessment Lead will contribute to programme leadership through membership of the Programme Committee and all MBChB Boards of Examiners. Detailed responsibilities include: designing, quality managing, and monitoring assessments; training and mentoring staff; developing students' assessment literacy; and reporting on assessment quality to Boards of Examiners and Programme Committee.

The successful applicant will be expected to pursue opportunities for collaborative scholarship in medical education or other disciplines within the Medical School.

This post will suit an experienced academic educator with extensive experience and expertise in assessment within the context of medical education, a track record of scholarship, and keenly developed leadership and management skills. The post requires enthusiasm for cross-discipline working with colleagues in the University and NHS to deliver integrated assessments of high quality.

Ideally we are looking for someone to take up a full time post and become a leading member of our team, but we will consider candidates who wish to be considered for a fraction of the post.

We also encourage informal discussions of the post with Professor Helen Cameron, the Dean of Medical Education. Please contact Mrs Janet Drury in the first instance: Tel +44(0) 121 204 4585 or Email
