Position InformationThe Director, Academic Personnel and Human Resources, provides management and leadership for a comprehensive and strategic human resources program for the UCR Library. The position directs human resources operations for a staff of over 95 employees, including onboarding, time and leave administration, employee training and development, leadership and management development, employee recognition, performance management, change management, and employee engagement initiatives, in consultation with the University Librarian and the Deputy University Librarian. The incumbent helps to advance a wide range of equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. They serve as employee relations coordinator and mediate issues as needed. They also serve as the Libraries' human resource policy and procedures expert. They participate in recruitment and salary administration for library faculty and staff, and they work with the Finance Services Supervisor on personnel budget issues. The position supervises a small team of human resources specialist. They serve on university HR committees and teams and represent the Libraries in regional and national forums. The position serves on the Library Cabinet, participates in library planning, policy development, resource allocation, and personnel management, and serves as an administrative liaison to a variety of committees and task forces.
This position is designated as a Mandated Reporter and will be required to complete trainings and comply with CANRA. Must pass FBI/Department of Justice background check.

Minimum RequirementsDemonstrated ability to handle difficult or volatile situations/individuals effectively. Maintains an understanding of the unit goals and how this position supports those goals. Communicates effectively with a diversity of communication styles. Working knowledge of personnel policies and applicable laws and regulations. Makes decisions regarding work assignments and scheduling of subordinates.
Preferred QualificationsHas working knowledge of the university's HR information systems.
