    Position description

    The Henry Samueli School of Engineering invites applications for a one-year full-time Lecturer position at UCI with Dalian University Joint Program based in Dalian, China. Dalian University of Technology (DUT) is a public research university located in the city of Dalian, Liaoning Province, China. Dalian is a modern port city on the Liaodong Peninsula, at the southern tip of Liaoning Province, China. Some travel may be necessary, travel expenses are included.

    Annual full-time salaries begin at $56,945. Possibility of appointment renewal after one year.

    The individual is expected to teach one to three lower-division composition and Academic English courses. Courses are equivalent to the levels of UC Irvine's Academic English 23, Academic English 20, and/or Writing 39A, B, C series, and Writing 39AP. The candidate may also be expected to teach upper- division courses required to fulfill curricula specifications for the program (e.g. ENGR 190W) as needed. The individual will also coordinate with the Director of English Composition at UCI to ensure the writing courses taught at the Joint Program remain the same as those taught at UCI. Students at the Joint Program will be instructed by both DUT and UCI faculty in Mechanical Engineering.

    Job Location: Irvine CA. Relocation to China may, or may not be required.

    Fall Quarter 2021 service period: September 20 2021 to December 10, 2021

    Winter Quarter 2022 service period: January 3, 2022 to March 18, 2022

    Qualifications

    Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

    PhD (preferred) in English, Rhetoric & Composition, Writing Studies, or a related field. MA in applied linguistics, or a related field, or an MFA in creative writing, also considered.
