The position is responsible for creating academic support resources that address students' learning support needs and provide problem-solving techniques, which can be applied across disciplines to enhance students' likelihood of academic success. The position works closely with professionals on campus to provide personalized academic coaching for students, including specific populations like first-year students, students in special cohorts (Spartan Strong, First Spartans, YCCOSP, YCP Promise, etc) students on academic probation, and students with disabilities.
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree, with a Master's degree preferred. Additionally, the candidate should have at least two years of experience in teaching, tutoring, or counseling specific populations at the secondary or post-secondary level preferred.
The candidate should possess excellent communication and organization to provide academic coaching to students by assessing students' needs and teaching success skills like time management, organization, note-taking and study strategies one-on-one or in small groups. The candidate must have a commitment to working with students from diverse socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds, and excellent organization communication skills.
